Help us support responsible alcohol consumption in Hammersmith & Fulham
We are reviewing our rules around consumption of alcohol in public places and want to hear your views.
Now, we are seeking to extend the order for a further three years.
How can the PSPO help?
The PSPO allows for the responsible public consumption of alcohol anywhere in the borough.
It provides H&F’s Law Enforcement Team and other authorised council staff with the powers to intervene only if it is causing anti-social behaviour. This can include:
asking people to stop drinking alcohol
confiscating alcohol
ask people to surrender or dispose of their alcohol
issuing £100 Fixed Penalty Notices to any person who fails to comply without a valid reason
These powers are used to help keep our public spaces safe and to reduce anti-social behaviour. The term anti-social behaviour, as defined by The Anti-social behaviour and Policing Act 2014 refers to
conduct that has caused, or is likely to cause, harassment, alarm or distress to any person,
conduct capable of causing nuisance or annoyance to a person in relation to that person’s occupation of residential premises, or
conduct capable of causing housing-related nuisance or annoyance to any person.
