Aims of the Evening and Night-time Strategy

Building on strong foundations

The London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham has many brilliant evening and night-time venues:

  • inspirational theatres
  • world-class live music and events venues
  • fantastic pubs, bars and restaurants
  • excellent late-opening retail provision
  • our football clubs
  • community, education and faith spaces

All of these places play a crucial role in Hammersmith and Fulham after 6pm.

Creating vibrant, diverse and safe evening and night-time spaces

The borough also has a wonderful, if under-utilised, riverside and excellent transport links, including the Night Tube at weekends.

However, the three main town centres of Fulham, Hammersmith and Shepherds Bush lack a critical mass of balanced evening activity and do not attract and retain as many residents and visitors ‘after dark’ as they could.

The public realm and feelings of safety are not always conducive to supporting a growing and diversifying evening and night-time economy.

With your input, we want to change this.

Boosting our economy

The Evening and Night-time Strategy aims to boost our economy by:

  • supporting existing businesses
  • attracting new investment
  • creating a welcoming, vibrant, safe and inclusive post-6pm environment for residents, businesses, workers and visitors

Project timeline and engagement

Progress so far

  • Online workshop with the Night Time Economy Working Group
  • Desk-based research
  • Night audits of Hammersmith, Fulham and Shepherd’s Bush town centres

What's coming up?

  • Stakeholder interviews
  • Workshops for each town centre
  • Surveys for residents, visitors, workers and businesses
  • Dedicated night tours with invited local stakeholders
  • Publishing the final strategy
