Walking west on the Thames Path, Hammersmith.

The Thames Path connects Hammersmith and Fulham, linking town centres, green spaces, sports clubs and riverside businesses. It is one of the borough’s most valued public spaces, used every day for travel, exercise and leisure.

Whether you walk, cycle, run, or spend time by the river, your experience matters.

We’re inviting residents, visitors and local organisations to share their views via an online survey and through in-person drop-in sessions to help shape the future of the Thames Path.

Why we’re asking

The Thames Path is used in many different ways, often at the same time. This mix is part of what makes it special — but we know that experiences can vary.

Some of the challenges people have raised include:

  • Managing shared use of the path between pedestrians and cyclists
  • Behaviour and speed of bikes, scooters and runners in busier sections
  • Accessibility issues for those using wheelchairs or adapted bikes

We want to better understand how people use the space, what works well, and where improvements may be needed.

What we’ve already done

We’ve already taken steps to improve safety and usability along the Thames Path, including:

  • Introducing rules to address illegal high-speed e-bikes
  • Installing “go slow” signage in busier areas
  • Getting dockless e-bike hire operators to implement ‘Go Slow’ geofencing

This engagement will help us identify what to focus on next.

Attend an in-person drop-in session

We are holding dedicated in-person drop-in engagement sessions with organisations along the river, including Fulham Reach Boat Club, Queen Caroline Community Hall, and an outdoor session at Furnivall Gardens.

You can speak to council officers in person, view maps, and share your experiences directly.

Drop-in sessions (no need to book):

Outdoor session:

  • Saturday 20 June, 10am to 3pm
    Furnivall Gardens, what3words: epic.jumped.photos

Dr Bike Mechanics will also be available to conduct a health check on your cycle and make minor adjustments to get your bike running at its best. More information can be found here.

Indoor sessions:

  • Tuesday 23 June, 2pm to 8pm
Queen Caroline Estate Community Hall, what3words: flank.nets.wacky

  • Thursday 25 June, 2pm to 8pm
Fulham Reach Boat Club, what3words: forget.roof.reveal
