As part of the council's continued commitment to improve its parks and open spaces, we are proposing to install a new outdoor gym in Hammersmith Park.
We would like to know whether users of Hammersmith Park support this proposal.
Description and location of the proposed gym
The gym will be located on a triangle of grass by the entrance gate on Wood Crescent which is opposite the play area.
The image below shows the proposed gym layout and equipment at Hammersmith Park.
The new gym will include the following items which are shown on the design with the corresponding numbers:
- An accessible combi (Lat pull/chest press) (2 users)
- Resistance bench press
- Surface graphics of an agility ladder
- 3x Cardio boxes
- Hip twister (3 users)
- Cross trainer
- Recumbent bike
- Rower
- Leg press (2 users)
- Surface graphics of lunge circle for body weight exercise
- Accessible arm and pedal bike
- Training rig with accessible parallel bars
The surfacing will be 'wetpour' which is used for playgrounds and is safe, durable and permeable.
A 1.5m gap will be left at the back of the gym so as not to block the informal track to and from the Wood Crescent entrance.
How will the gym be paid for?
The new gym would be funded by secured Section 106 money.
Previous consultation
We consulted on this project in 2019 and the majority of responses were in favour of the gym. As some time has passed, we would like to be sure that the local community still wants us to install a new gym in the park.
Other outdoor gyms in the borough
There are 7 outdoor gyms in the borough's parks. Fitness equipment in H&F Parks.
There is an outdoor gym 6 minute walk from Hammersmith Park at White City Estate (New Zealand Way). Other housing estates with outdoor gyms include:
- Kelmscott Gardens, Hammersmith (W12 9DB)
- Fulham Court Estate, Fulham (SW6 5QA)
- Lancaster Court, Fulham (SW6 5TB)
- Bayonne, Fulham (W6 8EJ)
- Horton House, Fulham (W6 8HW)
- West Kensington Estate, West Kensington (W14 9PE)
- Woodman's Mews, White City (W12 0HU)
Future Hammersmith Park Improvement Projects
- Separate S106 funding has been secured to re-surface the tennis and basketball court, with allowance for a new access gate. To be completed by summer 2024.
- Future improvements to the playground are proposed in the next 12 months, once funding has been secured.
This consultation closed at 5pm on 4 March 2024.
Thank you for taking part in this consultation.
