Update: There was an error in the letter sent to residents.

It should have stated that if residents choose Option A, we will take this as clear confirmation that change is not wanted and will continue with the rest of the consultations across the borough.

If residents choose Option B to extend the parking control hours, we will offer FREE parking for your visitors during the new extended control hours – after 5pm in the evenings and all day at weekends.

We hope this clarifies the situation and apologise for the error.

New parking consultation for Controlled Parking Zone D

Last year, your area – Controlled Parking Zone D – was among the first to take part in the borough-wide parking consultations. Residents were asked if they wanted to extend parking controls. At the time there was no clear support for action, except for a section in the south of the zone.

Residents in Star Road, Normand Road, Turneville Road, Archer Road, Chesson Road, Bramber Road, Fane Street and Mulgrave Road were clear that they wanted to extend the controls to seven days a week 8.30am to 10pm with a maximum stay of one hour.

We introduced extended controls in those eight streets in the autumn and we promised to monitor any impact across the wider zone.

What has happened since

Since then, residents in Zone D have reported increased parking volumes in the area and have asked whether it is possible to carry out a new consultation.

Furthermore:

  • Zones F and S, covering Stamford Bridge, Fulham Broadway, North End Road and West Brompton, opted to extend controls in evenings and at weekends, leading to heightened parking stress in your streets.
  • Six zones around Olympia, including neighbouring zones E and EE, also opted to extend controls in evening and at weekends, and this change will go live in the summer.
  • Zone A, which includes Hammersmith Broadway and Brook Green, is currently being consulted on extending controls.
  • Zone H, to your west, opted for no change and remains at Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

Kensington & Chelsea Council has just announced proposals to introduce weekend parking controls on streets north of the West Cromwell Road, near Olympia, which could also lead to increased parking on streets in Zone D.

There is a significant and increasing risk that Zone D will receive additional parking stress as drivers identify areas where they can still park free of charge, especially in evenings and at weekends.

Your chance to protect your streets

We have therefore decided that it is only fair and reasonable to give residents in the remainder of Zone D a further opportunity to protect your streets by bringing the controls in line with the eight streets and most of the zones around you.

Please tell us whether you want:

Option A: To keep the controls as they are, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm

or

Option B: Extend the controls Monday to Sunday 8.30am to 10pm, with a one hour maximum stay.

Option A: Final consultation

If residents choose Option A, we will take this as clear confirmation that change is not wanted and will continue with the rest of the consultations across the borough.

No further consultations will be provided to Zone D residents in the immediate future.

Option B: Support for you and your visitors

If residents choose Option B, we will offer FREE parking for your visitors during the new extended control hours – after 5pm in the evenings and all day at weekends.

To take advantage of the free parking offer, all you’ll need to do is book your visitors in on RingGo using a Resident Visitor Permit. You’ll be able to book in up to FIVE vehicles at a time during the free parking hours.

Importantly, the one hour maximum stay restriction will NOT apply to your visitors. They can stay for as long as they wish provided you have booked them in with your Resident Visitor Permit using RingGo.

This way we can ensure priority is given to you and your visitors.

Have your say

We invite you to complete the short questionnaire, which will help us to understand if any changes are required to improve parking on your street.

Thanks.

The consultation will end on Friday 12 July 2025.
