Parking consultation - Zone K
Zone K consultation for residents and businesses
Time to have your say!
Your place
Zone K includes Hammersmith Grove and the eastern section of the Brackenbury Village. It features a number of popular pubs, schools, businesses and independent shops.
Zone K sits between the high-demand town centres of King Street, Hammersmith to the south and Goldhawk Road, Shepherds Bush to the north.
The zone is especially sensitive to parking by visitors to shops, restaurants and theatres around these high streets.
Parking controls operate between 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday (except Richford Street area where controls are Monday to Sunday 9am to 8pm.) There are no maximum stay restrictions.
Non-resident shoppers and commuters can currently pay to park for up to eight hours Monday to Friday and free in evenings and at weekends.
Overview
Residents in Zone K have been asking for changes to the current parking restrictions because of significant, increased pressure on spaces for residents and guests.
The problem has got worse in recent times with neighbouring zones A and C – around King Street, Brook Green, and Olympia – opting to extend their controls to 11pm, seven days a week, with maximum stay restrictions.
Commuters are now using Zone K to pay to park all day and ride to work on buses and tubes. During evenings and through the weekends, drivers – some with oversized vehicles – are taking advantage of the free parking.
The reopening of Olympia, with 3.5 million visitors expected a year, and the ongoing development of King Street as a commercial hub are further compounding the problem.
We are now giving you the chance to have your say. This is your chance to protect car parking spaces for local people and local businesses.
If other neighbouring zones L and V, where consultations are also taken place, decide to tighten restrictions then the streets in Zone K will be under even further pressure.
Have your say
We are now consulting with residents and businesses in your zone. This is your chance to protect car parking spaces for local people.
You can choose whether to:
- Keep the parking controls as they are, OR
- Extend controls from 8:30am until 10:00pm or 11:00pm (in line with Brook Green, Olympia and King Street area), seven days a week, with a two hour maximum stay.
Please note: the two-hour maximum stay will not apply to visitors booked in by local residents and businesses using RingGo.
*Residents in Richford Street, Grove Mews, Astrop Terrace and Trussley Road can also choose whether to extend their current controls until 8.30am until 10pm or 11pm and introduce a two-hour maximum stay.
If the consultation supports extending the parking control hours, we will offer FREE parking for residents’ visitors after 5pm on weekdays and all weekend.
We invite you to complete the short questionnaire which will help us to understand if any changes are required to improve parking on your street.
Thanks.
