FAQ on consultation

Why are we conducting this survey?

The works for the Safer Cycle Pathway on King Street began on 1 August 2021 to significantly upgrade and improve Hammersmith for cyclists, pedestrians, and motorists. The scheme has been implemented under an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order (ETRO). We are now collecting data and wanting to hear from residents on the effect the changes on King Street have had on day-to-day trips.

When does the consultation start and end?

The consultation will run from Sunday 16 October 2022 and will close on Sunday 27 November 2022.

Where can I leave my feedback?

You can submit your feedback on our “Have your say page”. In addition, we are accepting all forms of feedback such as in writing and in audio. If you wish to submit any written feedback, please use the following address:

What will happen once the consultation ends?

An analysis of feedback will take place and the council will collect data on the usage of the Safer Cycle Pathway. This will help cabinet make a decision on the future of the scheme.

How is the council collecting data on the Safer Cycle Pathway?

The council will collect data on the Safer Cycle Pathway via two methods. Automatic Traffic Counters will be used to carry out short term surveys – typically between two to four weeks – and will collect data on both cycle volumes on the cycleway, while simultaneously collecting volumes of all traffic (bicycles, motorcycles, cars, vans, buses, trucks) on the main carriageway.

Traffic monitoring cameras will also be used to carry out medium to long term surveys – typically between three months to one year. They will collect data on all traffic modes. The cameras will be positioned along King Street to ensure data is captured for all the main entry and exit points and will include some of the key side roads.
