In an ever more connected world, we want to make sure all our residents, but especially our young people starting out in life, can have easy access to the career, educational and business opportunities across our European continent.

That’s why, in H&F, we're building new business, educational and cultural relationships with towns and cities across Europe.

We know that many of our residents have personal and professional links to European countries, as well as knowledge and insights into the most exciting and innovative towns and cities in the EU. We believe in doing things with residents not to them. So, we would like to hear from you about which towns and cities you think we could approach as potential new partners capable of offering significant mutual opportunities for growth, learning and career progression especially in these priority areas:

Industrial Strategy and Innovation

Our first-of-its-kind Industrial Strategy positions H&F as a global innovation hotspot capable of leading the world in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, medicine, and media. We’re keen to link with cutting-edge Industrial Strategies and Innovation Districts across the EU to support H&F's enterprises to grow on an international scale and to attract foreign businesses to locate, remain and invest here.

Climate Strategy

Climate change is a global challenge that requires global collaboration. H&F has been recognised as having the best Climate and Ecology Strategy in London. We’re keen to learn from other cutting-edge boroughs and towns about how they are translating their climate strategies into jobs, technology and carbon reductions and how we can work together. The Berlin lamp, commemorating our twinning with Neukölln, now displayed in Furnivall Gardens, Hammersmith.

Culture and Education

H&F’s many excellent schools, colleges and universities, as well as residents’ groups, diverse community groups, cultural centres, youth and sports clubs offer huge potential opportunities for cultural exchange and skills development.

Public Health and Covid Recovery

The global pandemic and our recovery from it presents every country with similar challenges. Working together with other countries we are keen to collaborate on a best-practice exit from this global problem.

Community Safety

Community safety is another area of concern shared by citizens across our continent. In H&F we have deployed a unique team of 72 Law Enforcement Officers and a new Gangs Unit and extensive CCTV. What can we learn from how other towns and cities in the EU are tackling similar issues and what can we share about our successes?

We understand that our prosperity and success are enhanced by international collaboration, knowledge exchange and technology sharing. We want to establish new ways to collaborate, work, travel, learn and protect our borough’s diverse culture and way of life. We want to make sure our residents have access to the best jobs and most cutting-edge innovations in industry and civic society available in our continent and share H&F’s successes too.
