Road transport is responsible for 16% of H&F’s emissions. Freight accounts for 28% of fuel use, with the remaining 72% from personal travel predominantly made up of car usage, as opposed to public transport (buses, 9%).

As well as greenhouse gas emissions, transport creates air and noise pollution, with significant implications for biodiversity and public health.

Parcels Not Pollution: discounts for cargo bikes

We’re offering local businesses and organisations the chance to lower their emissions and remove polluting van and car journeys from our streets by using cargo bikes for their inbound and outbound deliveries.

As part of the scheme, local businesses, charities, organisations and market stallholders can get either:

  • Up to £1,000 towards purchasing or leasing a cargo bike; or
  • Up to 50% off the cost of using a cargo bike service in a two-month period
    (Up to £300).

Support borough-wide cycling

A third of car trips in London are shorter than 2km. That distance only takes about 10 minutes by bike. You can help us encourage people to get on their bikes in two ways:

  • Fund cycle training for people who are nervous, new to cycling or thinking about re-starting
  • Help us incentivise people to take up cycling by supporting our bike rental scheme.

Commuters can now park their cycles safely and securely at the FREE Hammersmith Cycle Hub.
