In our aim to increase greening and better manage the risk of surface water flooding in the local area, we are proposing to build rain gardens on the pedestrian section of Westville Road between Batson Street and Ellingham Road, by Greenside Primary School. The location of the proposed scheme is shown in the map below.

What are the plans?

We are proposing to build rain gardens on Westville Road, these will collect rainwater that falls on the road and allow it to soak into the ground naturally rather than go into the sewer system. For this project we have worked with Greenside Primary School pupils in the design of this rain garden. The students created their own designs for the area, and we used their drawings to inspire the proposed design below.
