About the project
You're invited to help us improve the local streets and public spaces that matter to you.
Hammersmith & Fulham Council will soon create a strategy for improving the streets and public spaces, which will be called the White City Public Realm Strategy.Once complete, it will make White City safer, more connected, and accessible, with a clear identity. We want to make sure it is welcoming and well-used at all times of day, and much easier to move around and between key local spaces.
Potential areas for change could include:
Improvements to the way people move around White City by foot or by bicycle;
The creation of new public spaces;
Improvements to streets and spaces such as signage, seating, tree cover, and lighting.
The strategy will form part of a wider set of improvements that are proposed for White City, outline what we might require from new developments coming forward in the area and help with future applications for funding.
We need your views and ideas
At this early stage, we want to hear your views of how you get around, what works well, and what could be better. We would also like your ideas for future changes – big and small – that could help with the ease of getting around or improve your appreciation of the area.
We want to hear about:
Getting around – which routes you use and how easy or difficult is it to use them;
Quality of the area – what you consider to be important features of the streets and spaces you use, such as seating, lighting, planting, or art work;
Environmental matters - how quiet the spaces are, and how green they are;
Public places and destinations – where are the places and buildings you like to spend time at, and is the signage good enough to find them;
Safety – where do you feel safe and how we can improve safety in the whole area.
Get involved
We will be collecting your views over the coming months. On this page, you will find the following ways to give feedback on the tabs below:
A survey that asks you questions about these themes.
A map, where you can place pins to highlight issues and opportunities you have identified.
A questions button is provided below, if you need any further information.
This part of the discussion is open until Sunday 21 January 2024. There will also be another opportunity to feedback later in 2024.
An easy read version of the survey is available upon request. If you would like to request one, please do so by using the question button below.
It has been brought to our attention that some categories were missing from the ethnicity questions. Apologies for any upset this may have caused. This was a human error and we amended the list to include all groups on 11 December 2023.

The council is developing strategy for the public realm in the White City Regeneration Areas that will make it safer, more connected, and accessible, with a clear identity. We want to make sure it is welcoming and well-used at all times of day, and we need your help with that.
This survey asks some questions about how you currently get around White City, how you feel when you are in the area, as well as your ideas to improve existing open spaces, and links between the key local spaces.
It should only take a few minutes to complete and all the information you provide will help to the development of the strategy.
Confidentiality
This survey is confidential. All data will be processed in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018. Your answers will be treated confidentially, and your demographic data will not be used to identify you as an individual. We will use anonymised responses to the survey for external and internal use.
